Found it odd to find nobody here talking about the most important CPU launch in a long time!

I have no real need for this horsepower but I am waiting for the 3950X to become available locally at some point. Any one going to be getting one of these when they land here?

HEDT news doesn't get much traction...very much a niche product category.

The prices have gone up but so has the performance per watt and there doesn't seem to be a memory latency problem in gaming (from a quick look at benchmarks). Doesn't seem to be any compromise anywhere (you could say the price but this is a halo product and binned accordingly so it seems normal to price it up there).

AMD should be launching 64 cores on the desktop next year - pretty nuts.
