I am a little disappointed with the 6970, it is slower than the 570, but more expensive. Which really doesn't make sense seeing that AMDs graphics card are cheaper to make.

Anywaz, I was really pleased with the 6950, it performs well and is extremely well priced. I am/was hoping to get a pair of these babies in Crossfire. They retail in UK for £279.99 (R2 302), and was expecting a +- R300 rand increase in price here in SA. But as per usual, in the proudly rip off fashion, the recommended retail price is R3399.....

Who knows maybe I will be pleasantly surprised, and it doesn't retail for that price. If it does though, I will just join the many other disgruntled people and just import it.

Actually the price difference is crazy good!!!

You are fogetting 10% plus 14% from customs. Does that price include delivery? By the time you have imported the vga card you are saving such a little bit, if you actually save anything.

Don't forget the shipping costs if the card breaks under warranty... :erm:

It is actually £187.22 excluding british tax so R2000*1.10*1.14 = R2 508.... So where is the extra R900 coming from? Also you gotta realize R2500 isn't on cost price it is on retail price.

So do you get it excluding british tax or what? It's 2.9k excluding South africa tax. Also where is the delivery costs?

Is it delivered for free?

Yea and you can bet the one time you import a vga card is the one time your vga will break :D. Good old Murphy for you.

Been the other way around for me actually. Imported 4 cards so far and all of them are still going. 3 of the last 4 cards I bought in SA went pop within 18 months :( Might also have something to do with the brands I guess? All the cards I brought in from the US were EVGA while the local cards were XFX, Gainward and Gigabyte.

Nah, I am trying to estimate how much the SA shops would pay for it. It is a slight overestimate also, seeing that it is based on a retail price not the price they would get it for.
