AMD and Intel Question - Very Easy

The architecture of AMD chips is different to that of Intel chips.
AMD has shorter number pipeline stages per clock cycle.
AMD can do more work in a shorter time because of this.
Intel has higher clock speeds to balance this out.
etc etc
:p
Edit:Things are changing with the Dothan and what not
...bottomline use whatever is most efficient and performs best
Also cache on die is quicker to access
In a nutshell,a 2.2AMD is AROUND the equivalent to say a 3.0-3.5 Intel......In benchmarking gaming etc

K, so there isnt much difference ind 32 and 64? Cause i dont really wanna get rid of MCE 2005 yet. And the guy who said you cant get MCE 2005 yet, even sahara sells it now. Priced between home and pro.

IMO yip, not much GAMING difference. Maybe apps designed for 64 bit CPU's will have more luck.

Yeah, my intel pc keeps crashing so i thought let me plunge now, and see whats it all about instead of buy a skt 478 mb to test the intel pc.

let me know what you get in your benchmarks... Aquamark3 and 3DMark05... and maybe even Sandra if you have it.

Spot on. From the architecture point of view, the Intel HyperThreading is there to help compensate for the very long pipelines, which can be fast, but could cause app stalling while instrctions are in the pipeline.

someone said ppl neeeded to run multiple application

open ooklook and word at the sam,e time wont be that bad with amd lol
wont be much slower

its all up to at the end of the day but i have amd and iw ork in corel draw and photpaint alot at once and its super fast

but then again i have never owned an intel

and ive had 4 cpu's
down with intel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude! get your AMD to work doing some spell-checking! :)

i wonder if spell check will work while you type within BF2.... :p

AMD runs hotter and uses less power...

Also the AMD is for gaming and intel for apps.
AMD is like a guy with 1 hand - doing 1 thing at a time is fine.
Intel is like a guy with 20 hands - you can do more at once.

HUH?

AMD Runs cooler AND with less power.

My AMD machine is running, and im very happy so far, did not crash once, and my intel prescott 3.2 and mb is in my cars boot.
