Requirements:

4x core AMD CPU (more cores if there exists a cheap way)
At least 4x SATA outputs (no onboard RAID required)
1x IDE (preferably)
USB-2/3 (plus PS/2 connectors if possible)
gig' LAN onboard
AMD GPU onboard
Sound onboard (doesn't have to be fancy)
The ability to run a fancy graphics card if required in future

MB must be Gigabyte.

Not for me and I'm totally out of what's going on with AMD stuff.

Water bomb?

Requirements:
Balloon(if cheap enough otherwise condom will do)
Water(preferably clean use pee as alternative)

Not for me i'm totally out of what's going on in the water bomb industry and stuff.

Only the most hardcore amd fans would touch amd right now, intel or wait for bulldozer which is set to launch sometime within the next few decades.

Even recommending amd to anyone right now would be considered a disgusting thing to do, even to your worst enemy. Amd gpu's though now that is a good product.

If you need AMD for some reason you'd be a moron not to wait. Bulldozer is shipping out next week according to rumours, which is in line with a Sep 19 launch

So what is the rumour regarding it's power vs intel, itching for a new mobo and cpu :D. I know amd have power mobo's for cheap

From what I've read you will need a 9 series mb chipset for the bulldozer cpus.

There has been precious little information on this that I think is trustworthy. But what little I have suggests 10-20% faster than SB depending on the load, and how multi core CPU friendly the program is. But again, wait for final reviews, not mumbo jumbo based on engineernig samples. Either way, I'm in for a new SB or BD system in the next month or two

Some mobos can handle bulldozer on the 800 series chipset.

What he said. Lots of manufacturers, Gigabyte and MSI just popping off my head now, has bios updates that helps Bulldozer run on the 800 series chipset motherboards. There is still a lot of speculation on whether or not this will decrease the performance from Bulldozer. (Personally I wouldn't do that, unless I'm strapped for cash, then I'll buy the CPU, upgrade the bios and use that till I get enough for a 900 chipset motherboard)

I'm also in the market to upgrade soon, so just waiting for reviews.. But with me being on a Phenom II chip now, it seems easier to upgrade to a 900 series mb and then get the CPU later on when really needed.

@OP..

What you'd be looking at in the coming months if you are willing to wait would be the following:

Gigabyte does not currently have any 900-series chipset MB's with integrated graphics, so I'd get:

Gigabyte GA-990FXA-D3 -> R1 740
Add a very cheap graphics card for the time being -> about R350
AMD Zambezi FX-4100 (4 Cores @ 3.6GHz) -> unknown price

EDIT: Based on speculation it would be around $200, doing a quick search for things on newegg priced at $200 and comparing it to local prices, I'd say if the speculation is correct the FX-4100 would be around R1 800, maybe more for the first few weeks.

You didn't say anything about RAM, but the board does up to DDR3-2000. It's got most of your requirements but for the onboard graphics and only one PS/2 slot.

I looked at that earlier but I'm wondering about future upgrade path cpu wise. Will bulldozer make it into that socket?

AM3+ board will ensure you can upgrade the cpu in future.

Personally I'm all for sand bridge, this amd stuff has become confusing and it's at the wrong time.
