AMD Catalyst install hanging at "Detecting graphics hardware"

I've got a pair of R9 270 graphics cards that arrived today. Cards work 100% in another system.

Used to have an Nvidia card, I've removed the drivers for that, and run the Guru3d driver cleaner tool, to no effect.

They are connected in crossfire ( if that makes any difference )

PC works 100% fine otherwise

Any ideas? Anyone dealt with this before successfully?

Okay. So I tried something completely unprecedented ( according to the googling I've I've done int he last two hours )

What solved it for me this time was ( while the install manager is running ) uninstalling and reinstalling one of the cards through device manager.

Once that was done, the installer proceeded.
