Amd confirms Ryzen 3000,Navi launch

Dr. Lisa confirmed a Q3 launch yesterday so looking like July for ryzen 3000.

On the 570x mobo's looks like they will be using active cooling. Both the leaked biostar and colourfull have active cooling on the chipset.
Buildzoid has a video about his views on the biostar, says from what he has heard the chipset requires active cooling else it gets too hot under certain circumstances.

When things get hot normally means that it is power hungry and why would this chipset be more power hungry? AMD is really having issues with power delivery optimisation and utilisation. Seeing AdoredTV’s latest video on Navi (part 2) he doesn’t like the issues as rumoured (or leaked) either. To be honest, I don't like a motherboard with active cooling. It is okay with a CPU and GPU, and optimal, but a chipset… you have to ask, why?

I had an old AMD Soltek board back in the day which had active cooling, the old days.

I've never really understood why people care if components are power hungry? You are running a tiny little processor not a industrial grade milling machine.

Efficiency is kind of important for both a tiny little processor and an industrial grade milling machine.

Yeah but in the sense of a processor its a tiny amount of power so your power bill will be virtually unaffected, yet people are more interested in a cpu with low consumption than one with twice the consumption, 3 times the performance and 0.5 times the cost, just because the TDP may be a tad high, why?

This is a chipset, not a CPU. AMD is generally doing really good with Zen in regard to TDP. Intel is even drawing more than advertised. Then there is a ‘voltage discussion’, but I’m not going into that.

In the end, engineering needs to move towards improved power consumption(s) and improved temperature(s).

I see, I have to try to defend TDP as I still have a Fermi GPU Heater that rapes my poor PSU:ROFL:
 
I have a Fermi-powered gaming laptop. Then you have people raving about their convection plates and air fryers :thumbsup:

At least they make good heaters, I quite literally used it as one when its bitterly cold by running 3DMark in the background for an hour or so, instead of turning on the old oil heater.

Most gaming laptops run at excessive temps when they spin up properly. Doesn't matter what CPU/GPU combo you have, those things are in very tight spaces.
 
I am still all eager to wait when it will be installed in my PC, waiting for that July, like I do not know what. I didn't have any hardware upgrades for like 11 years. I mean it was a few really. And now this, I planned to go with Ryzen 5 2400G, but waiting for Ryzen 5 3600g

Only owned two intel cpus Q6600 &i5-4690, all the cpus before that were amd and never had issues with any of them.
 
Some exclusive info from Gamers Nexus. Apparently the keynote will unveil the 570x mobo's.

They claim frequencies,oc and pricing won't be unveiled here but the cpu's will be unveiled at E3 on June 10.

They also say 3000 cpu's and x570 pre orders will open 1 July. Nda for reviews will lift 7 July along with product launch.

Never had any issues with my AMDs, had a 486 DX266 version, then went to Intel till the K6-2 300, from then on had AMD till the Phenom 2 which was the last time I built a PC till now again where I'm on Ryzen. The only ones that were dodgy were the piledriver and bulldozer AMDs.
