AMD HD 5870 announced, local pricing revealed

I knew I should have waited be4 buying the geforce gtx 260...SIGHZORZAFFS
 
and you get a bag of dirt what drivers are concerned.....I'm sorry but nvidia might be more expensive, and not always the best what technical specifications is concerned but they sure as hell do write better drivers, and then there is CUDA which I also use in conjunction with some CAD software, but thats besides the point.
No, hopefully one day AMD will sharpen up theyre drivers, till then I'll be a brand whore and stick to tried and proven.

Fair comment, especially at the moment.

The last 2 Catalyst updates have introduced sever texture rendering problems with Anno 1404. What gets me is that the problem has been present in two consecutive updates. Very poor support from AMD. The problem persists with the HD 5870 beta drivers as well.

Sigh. I like AMD, but seriously now...

Haven't had a SINGLE Problem with my 4870x2 - not a SINGLE one.
that story of ati and crap drivers is an old one

this 58xx series is cheap considering the performance :eek:
 
I have to agree. The main reason I shy away from ATI/AMD GPU's is their crappy drivers. I mean if you paying R2k+ for a piece of hardware its only normal for the software to work correctly.

Very sad on their part!

Might be that its sorted out now, but I'll just stick to the tried and proven Nvidia, it just works. My friend has an 3870 and he constantly needs to tweak his drivers for games. Nvidia did it right, by ensuring that as far as your drivers are concerned that stuff just works.

Oh right haha. Sorry then.

Well I figured that including the US$ price was a necessity, and it is general practice to include the local conversion in brackets when doing so.

In the past people have complained when including international pricing with no conversion. Cant win with you people :p

how does one "tweak" your drivers? overclocking it? switching filtering or anti-aliasing on/off ?

he has an old card and probably needs to do it because he can't run newer games on full graphics anymore....

i'm guessing the guys with 9500GT's also "tweak their drivers"
 
this is REALLY depressing. i have a 9600gt and plan on upgrading in december or possibly january. now ati has rubbish drivers but nvidia is crazily overpriced. sigh what is a man to do.!?:(

do people think their drivers are rubbish because it's cheaper? it seams nVidia has really dominated marketing wise, burning that image of "ati is crap" into your minds - i prefer to look at performance.

I heard a lot of complaints from ATI card owners with regards to performance issues in NFS:Shift. Then again, every "Way its meant to be played" Nvidia game so far seems to get hardcoded to give ATI card owners the finger.

my 8800gtx in my old computer still runs pretty much every game fine (without scalling **** down) on a resolution 1680x1050 and thats a damn old card aswell. Maybe its all got to do with the " Nvidia the way its meant to be played" label on most games, heck I dont know.
 
The longevity on those 8800GTX has been amazing. Definitely one of the best hi-end products over the past few years, if not the best
 
My last ATI was 2x 3850 (crossfire) and a 3870, never had any driver problems with it. Got a 8800gt now and ya, games crash ect ect.

ATI drivers crappy? i dont think so.

My next card will a ATI again. I see a 4870 coming very cheaply my way.:D
