AMD Phenom and Phenom2

Hi,

What exactly is the difference between the two?

I cant google as most sites are blocked at work.

Phenom is obviously older than the phenom2,

Will it be a bad thing if I buy a Phenom?

the phenom had a TLB bug and the performance wasn't that great. The phenom II is much better.

and the Phenom's are a 65n part where as the Phenom II's are 45n.

Yeah the process are 65nm on the normal Phenom, ag but its ok..

Im not planning to overclock yet, but will experiment around a bit on a later stage, maybe overclock to 3ghz.

I will be getting a ASUS M3N-HT Deluxe Mempipe with the CPU on wednesday

That was the one i originally wanted but my friend couldnt get it from his suppliers as they had no stock.

for about R300 extra you can get the 940 black edition. Sybaritic's website says their suppliers are expected to have stock. Maybe you should send them an enquiry about availability on both?

Phenom 2 is properly faster then Phenom I. 2MB L3 cache vs 6MB, 65nm vs 45nm etc...
Phenom2 FTW, but since you say its late I suppose 9950 is fine

PhenomII is quite the upgrade over Phenom I. I would've just got the cpu somewhere else.

Hectic, I would've bought the 720 for under 2K. I have one and can tell you they'll do 3.5GHZ stable at 1.5 vcore. Had mine up to 3.7 but backed off.

It should be fine for that but the truth is the 720 is way better for less money.

I'm actually selling my 720 for R1800 so I can upgrade to the Phenom II 955 when it comes out.
