AMD vs INTEL - The debate rattles on...

DDR 2 is faster at megahertz and has twice the timing latencies (which is bad)of DDR currently.

Only DDR2 at 800Mhz will be equivalent (maybe slightly better) than DDR 400, and AMD's upcoming M2 socker processors will be able to use 533, 667 and 800MHz modules.
 
Franks supersunbird ... I didn't know that.

What I don't get about this whole AMD thing is that my bud's AMD is faster and better than mine on paper but mine outperformed his in the CPU part of the 3DMark2005, by like more than 100%. That shocked both of us and he has shut up about AMD since then.

Intel was better at multitasking till AMD introduced the X2 now inTel is toast. :)

Put my CPU against that INtel server of yours ;)

What CPU does he have, and what one do you have? He on nForce chipset motherboard? You?

And 3DMark is not the best, best is to use is in-game benchmarks like CSS have, with the same graphics card and amount of RAM.

So DDR2 is not that great then? I was in computer store and asked the techie the diff between DDR and DDR2 and he simply said that the '2' meant that it was twice as fast. I take it that this is not the case then?!

Its throughput can be twice as fast, but a 800Mhz FSB Intel CPU wont benefit much dual channel DDR2 533 since the extra goes to waste, just as my Athlon XP on a 333MHz FSB didn't benefit almsot any from dual channel DDR.

AMD's are also less sensative to higher latencies, so when the new ADM m2 socket processsor and DDR2 at 800Mhz is coupled with it, in may perform better than one with same clock and DDR, but only really noticable in memory benchmarks and not real life.

But in reality, the main bottlenecks in PCs anyway are hard and optical drive transfer speeds.

Those 2 sticks of OCZ Ram look mighty tempting.:cool:
 
Gaming = athon64
Multitasking = athlonX2
Notebook = Pentium M

everyone wantS centrino laptops no one is interested in amd laptops i think anyhow

but the new 64 bit semptrons kick the ass outta anything intel offer in the same price range

why we having this thread hehe

we all know who is better
intel is used more because it known like mecer
if anybody knew how crap mecer is they wouldnt buy it
