Good day fellow gamers!

So, i've always wondered why there's always been a thing between AMD and nVidia amongst gamers?

Who has nvidia and who has AMD? and why did you pick those cards?

Lets keep it civil :)

I have two PCs, one with an nvidia card and one with an AMD card. I really don't care too much about brands but which one gives me best value for my money.

Its the age old story of humanity, people cannot exist without war... nVidia vs AMD, Apple vs Android, Mercedes vs BMW, Lions vs Sharks... and on it goes...

I have a budget, then select the best bang for buck I can get... doesn't matter the brand...

Millions of these acidic threads on the internet you can go read.

Whatever you where brought up with.

For me it was nVidia and a Playstation.

Well Nvidia for compatibility. Specifically some private dental practices I am involved with have software that requires Nvidia.

Brand loyalty is a thing of the past. Whichever gives the best value for money, for your use case, is the only way to go.

It keeps the developers/manufacturers honest and the consumer wins.

Likewise can be said about any tech, and non-tech, consumer product - phones, TV's, cars, clothing.

Good day fellow Rugby supporters!

So, i've always wondered why there's always been a thing between The Bulls and The Sharks amongst Rugby supporters?

Who likes The Sharks and who Likes The Bulls? and why did you pick those Teams?

Lets keep it civil :)

Answer: People want to feel like they are apart of something. So they can say "we won".

Personally, used to buy NVIDIA only for the name being brand conscious. I got older and smarter, now I buy the best performance per Rand, and AMD has been leading in that class for a while. I have had some issues with NVIDIA cards/drivers before. Not a single issue since I bought the R9 290. Now honestly, I just buy best value.

Long story short is that humans are not aware of how irrational their decisions are.

Example: User A buys an AMD card, experiences a driver issue, and swears off AMD cards for the rest of time, saying that all of them have driver issues. 10 years later, he still will not buy an AMD card, because they "have driver issues",

Lots of similar examples for AMD, Nvidia and Intel. A bad experience causes bias in a user that overcomes rational decision making, so, instead of investigating whether AMD really does have worse drivers, he will just never buy AMD again.

Or an AMD purchaser will never buy Nvidia after they were caught cheating at benchmarks, or whatever.

Nvidia have had two separate occasions where drivers have caused graphics to burn out, yet it gets conveniently forgotten.

But again, the point is, that does not mean you should never ever buy an nvidia GPU ever again. By the time you are looking at purchasing another GPU, it might be that every single person who was ever involved with those drivers that burned out GPUs, have left nvidia.

I have an AMD R9 280, planning on getting like a RX480, because if I spent the money I had on Nvidia, I wouldn't have such a capable GPU, If cash wasn't an issue I'd get a GTX 1080, but its way too expensive. Also this year there will be a lot more dx12 games and my ATI will benefit way more than anything less than a GTX1080.
