AMD Zen 2 Engineering Sample - Why The 4.5GHZ Clock Speed Is Impressive

A bit older, thought it interesting, seems the AMD Zen 2 engineering samples are able to hit 4.5 GHz all-core, so should be quite interesting to see what the next gen looks like.
Currently in gaming scenarios they are about 15% behind the 2700X in single core performance versus the 8700K, so the 15-18% IPC performance increase quoted by AMD should be good, before counting the core clock performance increase.

Memory support also improved, and lower latencies, not sure what the values of latency improvement expected are, haven't really followed developments.

It is a while until they release as well, hope we get some more competition with Intel.

And yes, I know, there will always be something newer and faster around the corner, and I hope it keeps going that way.

AMD's Zen 2 (PIcasso) should be released sometime early next year, March-April. Should have PCIe 4.0 support as well: https://www.pcgamesn.com/amd-navi-zen-2-pcie-4
