AMD has unveiled its second-generation Ryzen processors.

Initial benchmarks are meh.

The current 6 core i7 8700k still trumps the top spec 8 core Ryzen 2700x;

At a higher price and depending on what ones wants do do with it...

Tested on A320...handy data for A320 owners who would want to drop a new chip into their existing build but A320 doesn't support the new boost features the 2nd Ryzen generation uses.

I don't expect a big jump in performance from the launch (a few hundred Mhz increase in clock speed isn't going to change the world) but that review has issues...26th March to launch date is a long time - unoptimised BIOS, wrong motherboard to demonstrate absolute performance.

Memory support would be the deciding factor.

Really looking forward to some "real-world" benchmarks -especially in games.
I'm seriously due for an upgrade and currently mulling over either a 2600X (with x470) or i5 8600K (with Z470) -with fairly high speed RAM, of course- to be paired with a 1440p monitor in the near future.

So, come on April 19th!
