On Sunday, 28 February, the incorrect episode of the hit international reality show, American Idol, was broadcast on M-Net and M-Net HD between 18:00 and 19:00. Instead of the American Idol Results Show, announcing the Top 20 contestants, viewers saw a repeat of the episode featuring performances of the Top 12 female singers.

According to Pierre Cloete, M-Net’s Channel Manager, this broadcasting error was linked to an oversight regarding the feed M-Net had received from the USA. “We use the latest broadcasting technology to bring our viewers episodes of American Idol very close to the American screen dates but, due to a conversion problem of the satellite feed, the episode didn’t reach our television screens, as planned and scheduled.”

“We profusely apologise to all our M-Net viewers. M-Net takes full responsibility for this anomaly, which could have been prevented with a thorough system check. We’ll ensure that our technical teams monitor the delivery and conversion of the feed in more detail to ensure that it doesn’t happen again.”

To give American Idol fans ample opportunity to watch the missed Results Show, M-Net will screen the episode a number of times this week on M-Net; M-Net HD; and M-Net Series.

The movie, Doubt, scheduled on M-Net and M-Net HD tonight (Monday, 1 March) at 21:30, will be moved to 22:30 to make place for a broadcast of American Idol.

The American Idol Result Show will also be screened at the following times on the following channels:

• M-Net Series – Saturday, 6 March between 15:00 – 16:00

• M-Net, M-Net HD – Sunday, 7 March between 13:00 and 14:00, just before the new episodes of the series start at 14:00 (airing until 19:00).
