For anyone interested in the WISP service provided by Amobia Communications, I strongly suggest you look at alternate solutions or providers and after hearing my experience you will understand why.
About 3 years ago I was with Amobia and from the get go, the service was not great. The technicians were not technically skilled and have no clue about customer service etiquette (I am not your friend bru). The wireless service was not great either as I kept loosing connectivity to the highsite. The technicians could not figure out why, so 3 months after signing up I eventually had to cancel the service as it was unusable and of course lost the R1999 installation fee.
Anyway, 3 years down the line I thought I would give it another go. I phoned the Amobia Sales and spoke to Karl Liebenberg who of course promised you the world. I was informed the highsite I previously connected to has been upgraded significantly. In no time, the documentation was completed and a site survey was completed, without coming out to my premises? I was informed the test was passed and we went ahead with the application (Sales Order IO000054).
Here is the sequence of events:
• On 25th July, I paid the installation fee of R1999 to Amobia, sent all the documentation to Karl Liebenberg who confirmed receipt and advised the Area Manager for Cape Town, Daemon Smith would contact me the next day, which of course he did not.
• On 26th July, Karl Liebenberg confirmed site survey was successful and without coming out to my premises? Area Manager, Daemon Smith would contact me.
• On 29th July, an installer by the name of Deon came to my premises to do the install but was an hour late. He spent 4 hours at my premises and the installation was unsuccessful. He was extremely unprofessional and could not even get my name right, seriously!
• On 30th July, Daeson phoned me to arrange for an installer to come out again the Sunday at 1pm to which I agreed.
• Sunday 31st July came and I waited all afternoon but no installer showed up.
• The next day, 1st August I had to phone Daeson to find out what happened and to arrange installer again. As usual, he was not available but will return my call. He eventually returned my call much later that afternoon.
• 2nd August, the new installer comes to attempt install again and after 4 hours was unsuccessful. This technician did not even bother to speak to me and even when he did, I could not make out what he was saying. Later Deon joined him and he explained to me that they could not get me connected.
• 3rd August, Daeson contacts me to explain the are not able to get me connected and cannot figure out why. He will arrange for a refund of my installation fee with the accounts team.
• Two weeks later after receiving no response, I contacted Daeson and Karl on the 19th August as I have not yet received my refund. Karl phoned me back stating he will email the accounts department and copy me on the communication which he did not.
• On the 31th August, I has still not received my installation fee refund and decided to contact the accounts department directly. I spoke with Carla Liederman who escalated to her account manager, Cindy Robinson as she was in the only person that can approve the refund. Cindy was however on training for the week and could only look at my request the following week.
• Today the 5th September, I phoned the accounts department again and spoke to Carla who is still awaiting feedback from Cindy. I asked to speak to Cindy directly who probably did not want to take my call as I was kept on hold for a long time before be advised she will return my call.
So the wait continues to see if the Account Manager Cindy Robinson will return my call. I just find it utterly ridiculous that the customer has to keep chasing the vendor to get some service.
