Heres the deal - I have wireless internet coverage from Amobia as I don't have any Telkom lines in my area and the rest of the minions dont work full stop.
I dont even get 3g with any of the cell network providers Edge at the best even with Antenea's and all.:(

Ok so my contract is 2meg connection (wow) with unlimited browsing so I know my speed is not going to be 100% 2meg all the time but as I type I have just tested and my Download is at 93 Kbps and Upload 93 kbps - or as tested on the local system Test conducted on 27 September 2011 05:50:05 PM
Download Speed: 73 kbps (9.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 155 kbps (19.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 45 ms

So after complaining that my speed is to slow - I have been informed by the Technical department of Amobia that I can only expect 256Kbps on the package that I have, so Im like what dont I under stand here.

I did nearly forget to mention that the Board on the dish was replaced this last week with a new one (another model also) as the other died for no reason.

Can Someone please explain Im maybe not so bright after all. :wtf: who are they trying to fool here, is there any authority out there that can possibly help me out and explain what is rely happening here, or can I report this to some sort of ISP governing body. ???

Please help.

Are you sure they didn't say 256 Kilobytes/s? 256KB/s = 2Mbps.

Do you have line of sight to the Amobia access point?

Do you have a high gain directional antenna?

What is your Transmit CCQ?

1. Wrong section of the forum.
2. Welcome to MyBB. :)
3. Please do a speedtest on http://speedtest.mybroadband.co.za/ (local) and post the results here.
4. I know they save your username and password on that "router board" and maybe they messed up the account?
5. How far are you from the tower?

I used them before their charges were very reasonable. .As far as the speed and reliability goes I have yet to encounter any problems.

Hi Guys,
thanks for the replies.

1. Sorry in the wrong section - Im rather distraught over so many services Im paying for that are either not working or up to crap, this problem has just added the icing to the cake.

2. Ummmm is to to late to intro...Im mike and not an Alcoholic :D

3. I did post the test results from the local..http://speedtest.mybroadband.co.za/ (local) as follows.
Download Speed: 73 kbps (9.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 155 kbps (19.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 45 ms
 this is how its been on and off for months
this was yesterday - and as of today after a call from the provider who saw this post it is as follows.
Test conducted on 28 September 2011 04:30:33 PM
Download Speed: 1865 kbps (233.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 296 kbps (37 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 36 ms
:D more realistic.

4. Tower is however far, but I still have line of site and do except that on bad days there would be bad fluctuations.

Awesome!

Bad weather will always influence wireless connections unfortunately, and sometimes it even influences ADSL connections :(

BTW: it is line of sight and not line of site ;)
