Hi,
I read these forums fairly often, but have never posted anything, so I thought it's about time. Anyhow... I am planning to move to Amsterdam next year, so have been reading some random bits and pieces. Their general attitude towards broadband is very refreshing... yum. Some of you have probably read about the dutch town, Almere, which was struggling financially and decided to wire up the entire town with fiber-to-the-home, giving local residents 100mbit fiber connections, and businesses tons of bandwidth. Anyways, this sparked the race for fiber-to-the-home in Amsterdam, where they have started offering services up to 100mbit at suuuuuch low prices. I was bored and compiled a spreadsheet with some of the options and offers. In a lot of cases fiber to the home is being offered at higher speeds and lower prices than ADSL, driving the market and what not. They generally have such a practical approach to most things, and we could really use some of that here. Well, if you are interested, I posted the thing as a PDF on some possibly dodgy file hosting service.... just hope the service stays up for more than a day! Oh, i also compared some the prices to what you could possibly get here... and yeah, its disgusting. The slowest service I could find was €4.5 for 2mbps... shocking.
K, here it is: http://dl1u.savefile.com/372acb2fc8ad1409688d4d3d132c744d/dutch_internet.pdf
