This thread is dedicated to all those rather amusing quotes we see in the news every day.

Before blu bites my head off… for-sure some of them are shocking especially considering they are uttered by our supposedly esteemed leaders , but this often makes them all the more amusing considering said esteemed leaders are supposed to be… well… leaders and one would think they’d know better

So here’s my contribution for the day:

From Mike Abrahams - Saccawu spokesperson on current PnP wage negotiations
“Now, when hard toiling workers and their union put forward reasonable wage demands, the company uses the costs of restructuring as an excuse to deprive workers of a decent wage increase,"

Now I don’t know about anyone else but to me there is a major contradiction in terms when talking about those people who hang around Pick and Pay in blue uniforms and hard toiling workers in the same sentence.
I mean have you seen the size of those @rses – no “hard toiling worker” could possibly build up that level of posterior lard; not without being at least 10 *****s behind and 20 meals ahead

I agree with you, but not based on the size of the behinds ... I agree based on how hard I've seen PnP workers actually work ... or rather not.

I don't disagree with you on this ... and I don't (give a ****, that is)

I thought this was quite ironic; "I locked them in for their own safety" said the mother of the 5 children who burned to death in a shack (near Durban) while she had gone off 'visiting' (the local shebeen perhaps?) Is this an example of New Age parenting?

Not sure about New Age parenting ... I can't quite remember whether it was eTV or SABC3 News I heard it on, but one of those "children" was 23yo .

ROFL

Was it rape or was it not? That was the question the Pretoria High Court had to deal with.

But as it turned out, it was in fact a case of mistaken identity.

They eventually agreed to meet and the man, known as Jacky - who is a government employee - arranged to pick up his new love in front of the Wimpy at Sammy Marks Square in the Pretoria CBD.

She in turn, without knowing what Jacky looked like as they had never met, waited for him at the restaurant with her overnight bag in tow containing her pyjamas.
...they had repeated sex that night and when she switched on her phone the next morning, she discovered a message from the "real Jacky".

Stranger who got lucky is acquitted

Is it any wonder that the big A is such a problem in our country?
Who the hell waits in a Wimpy with overnight bag in tow for someone they have never met face to face ... FFS

And then go with the first guy that looks promising ... Really dumb.

And pregnant, I believe.

I know being a victim, even of an attempted crime is no laughing matter, but this is one reporter who could have chosen his words better.

omg, lol ... that's awful ... that's one lucky hijacker .. this must be embarrassing for that girl ... the news24 writing quality is really heading downhill, i see more and more really bad mistakes in their articles getting past the editors these days.
