I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and as far as I know I need to have KIES loaded on my pc for the tablet to sync to and upgrade. When I received the Tab, I loaded KIES and it seemed fine but for the last week it has not worked. I removed KIES from my pc and re-installed it but it does not open and you get the "send error message to Microsoft" or something along those lines, which means it does not work.

Is there another program to use instead of KIES?

Thank you most generously!

I have the GT-P3113. If you go to the settings feature it says all is updated so i cannot tell if there is a firmware update to jellybean to jellydoughnut or not. I don't think there is an update at the moment but it would be nice to know that if there was I had a way to update my device.

Sources say that JB V4.2.2 is the latest software for that Tablet, KIES giving you that error on PC isnt normal, do you have an anti virus program installed?

Edit KIES needs Java to run, so I suggest you uninstall Java and KIES then reinstall the latest versions of both.

I would provide links but i dont know if you are using 32 or 64bit windows.

That tab should update over wifi. Got one for my gf and she doesn't even know kies exists. All updates done over wifi and file transfers over usb. Latest FW iirc 4.2.2

Not sure about updates and all that but I use a program called Snapea, try it. I've never used Kies, found it very cumbersome, I like the simplicity of Snapea.

Thanks guys will give everything a try.

Rickster, could it be Avast that is making the error? I seem to think there was an issue with KIES and malware or something?

The WI FI updates, does that also let you know when there is a new firmware update like when IOS releases its updates or is the wi fi update checker ONLY for the programs you run?

Will look at Snapea now thanks Heebs.

I see the firmware is available here: Edit not it, it was for model GT-P3110. if you find the FW you could try loading it with ODIN in stead of keys.

Alternatively you can try a custom rom. Read through here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182096 do a lot of homework before attempting this...

/I do not except responsibility if you manage to brick your device etc :)
