Hi.

Here's the issue..

What is the correct way to change the 5800 from a "Data Storage Mode" to a "PC Suite Mode" and Visa-Versa?

Because..

When I change it in the "Connectivity" menu (while connected to my PC) it will reboot the handset.

Does anyone else have this issue?

If not, what should I try before I take it back to MTN?

Re-Flash it? - I'm on the latest firmware.

Please help guys, my content with this unit is fading..

:(

If it's new, don't reflash it, I think you might lose your warranty. You should maybe check the service menu (You dial #sometingsomething, can't remember sorry) and check if you can't change it there.

I don't think you are suppose to change the connectivity(or fiddle with the phone unless prompted) while connected to the PC. Rather disconnect and reconnect and select a different mode.
My 2c.

Ja. I suppose I'm being ****hbaggish about that.

Will do the boring, long-procedure-ish thing.

BTW, Spiderman 3 on the 5800 is awesome. WoW !!

(I don't actually like that drivel, but wanted to see a direct DVD conversion..)

:)

According to Nokia's official literature, you should not operate the phone while it is connected to your PC. I'm actually glad that the device reboots when you change the settings while it is still connected - prevents data corruption. So no need to reflash the phone, iDenTiTy.

Also, it only takes 5 seconds max to disconnect and reconnect your phone. In my case I just set my E51 to default to PC Suite mode, with me selecting Mass Storage mode when needed. Never even need to use the Connectivity menu.

UPDATE: I just noticed that every now and then it will just reboot by itself.
It will be in it's plastic pouch - and BAM! reboot.

Worried now...

Should I do a hardware reset? Could that help?

Zenbaas: The file is 1.05GB. VERY good quality.

UPDATE No. 2:

Went to MTN. Performed a full swop-out, no questions asked.
Let's hope the new one (red) works properly.

Holding thumbs.

:)
