Well the subject explains it all.

The usage graph said I downloaded 800MB and uploaded 642MB yesterday. This is absolutely impossible. I suspect someone has been using my account. No one knows my password or even username besides me. Perhaps a Telkom intern? Anything like this been reported before?

I'm angry and ready to strangle Telskum.

Yeah - it's happened before no dought - don't have the facts, but it's entirely possible.
Fact is, it's possible to track circuit-number to username to ip address - iow, Telkom could see if it was you or not without too much hastle.

persue it.

BTW, spello - Telkom are strange enuff - presume you meant Strangle :D

There was talk on the mailing lists about this happening. Unfortunately you need a case number from SAPS before they will take action. "Section 205".

I would complain to your ISP as they probably have lax security. Also check your router/modem password is not root/root.

It has happened many times, and is well documented on the forum, all part of the rape and abuse situation. Telkom don't give a damn they want you to buy more bandwidth.

Have a look at the amount of time that you were online. If it is more than 86500 sec it means somebody else is using your account. It happened twice with me last year. Reported it to SAIX. They had a look and saw that somebody else was using my account. They even got the telephone number of the other party. Problem is that they dint want to release the detail. So I had to go to a Police Station and and open a case of fraud. Was a bit difficult when I had to put up the physical address of the Internet (Where did the crime take place) Was last year August. Still no response from anybody. I've got this suspicion that somebody in SAIX is abusing the accounts. It is always at the end of the month and where a account would download on average 100-300Meg it jumps to 1 - 2 Gig.

MWEB Capping Exeeded

Hi all

I have reciently had the same problem. 1.2 odd Gigs worth. One day logged 1.2 odd gig traffic in and 1.2 odd gig traffic out, and bang goes the cap on the 13th of the month. MWEB doesnt seem fazed by this. I need to give them a SAPS case number for any records. The funny thing is, I use a netgear router, and this connects at 24 hour intervals. I suspect someone got throught the router? Hence 1.2 gig traffic in and out? Dunno?

Do anyone know any traffic loggers one can use on the PC to log the traffic.

Thanks

Guys, the people at Telkom swap people's usernames and password like bloody baseball cards so don't be too surprised.. personally I wouldn't swap it if I were them, I would sell it very cheap.. but hey I don't work for Telkom (un)fortunately.

One can change your password online now so perhaps try that.. doubts as to just how secure it is.. it's prolly as insecure as my ex tho :P
