An Interesting Twist To Sentech

After just reading the latest slanging match on itweb, I decided (for the first time in a long time) to have a quick look at the sentech web site.......

Stop me if I'm wrong, but www.sentech.co.za is powered by PostNuke......

PostNuke is an open source content management system....... released under the GPL licence!!!!!

From what I understand of the GPL, you are not allowed to copyright the code yourself, have to have a copy available for distribution (if requested) and must not remove the Powered By PostNuke description at the bottom of the page.

Talk about infringing on trademarks.......... or even copyright......

Hmmmmm............

It seems Sentech might be in for a SMALL suprise............

As a quick indication, I've copied the offending bit of incriminatory evidence (sjoe...big words again) below.......

Any thoughts?

Having read the GPL more than a few times and having read PostNuke's own explanation of this I do not believe they are in violation.

They are copyrighting their content.
They are NOT distributing a modified version of the software.
They are still providing a link to the code generator.
If you view the source of the PostNuke site you'll notice that there is on difference between that implementation and sentechs.

Just my thoughts and comments
 
I would like some confirmation as to whether they are in violation of the GPL or not.

Damn this story just keeps on tailoring itself for Slashdot. They descend on GPL violators like a pack of ravening wolves [}:)]
