Is it possible to use your normal telephone line over a LAN? I want to connect my telephone line to my LAN and be able to use my phone line at any network point.
Would Skype work?
Thanks for any help.

Use an ATA device (Analogue Telephone adapter) about R700 from Miro for the entry level Grandstream HT486 uses FXS [LAN <-> ATA -> Phone]

Also connecting SkyPE to non PC devices like Analog phones
Analog FXS/FXO Gateways
Connects a phone device and has FXS port too. One can switch between a FXS call and a skype call by pressing a * or #)

Analog FXS devices

Connect analogue phone to Lan - ATA, like Sipura SPA 3000 (1xFXS/1xFXO)
Use the line at any network point - Asterisk (running on Linux server)+soft/hardware VoIP phone
Analogue phone line (PSTN) <===> ATA <----> Asterisk Box <----> Other network Point (SIP/IAX clients)
<---> any network connection (wired or wireless)
<===> RJ11 phone cable
