Ananzi.co.za hacked!

A client of our complanied that ananzi.co.za was not loading.
So we connected to her machine to see what was wrong (she could browse other websites)

It turns out, Ananzi.co.za has been hacked by Anarchy Cr3w.

Does anyone know much about this group?

9 Times out of the 10 somebody downloaded a few scripts and found a known vulnerability on Ananzi. Then it's a simple matter of running a few other scripts and voila, you have a hacked site.

I seriously doubt if this was a specific, targeted attack: More likely is just some sloppy sysadmin from Ananzi's hosting company.

And as usual, we'll only hear about the ones that are reported or public has access to! Definitely an increase in attack on SA sites!

These guys have nothing of value in their lives. Almost a decade ago, I was part of a Star Wars gaming group called the Emperor's Hammer (massive global gaming group that made custom missions for a number of star wars games and gave you points for playing them). The group is split into "ships" based on which game that group of people play (i.e. ISD Immortal = X-Wing Alliance players), and each ship has different squadrons for the sake of organization. Our squadron had a tiny website for news and stuff, and some ****er hacked/cracked into the site and plastered all over the site that we're a bunch of sad, no-life nerds.

The guy spent time getting into the website of a sub-group of a sub-group of a sub-group of a Star Wars gaming group so that he could call us losers.

These people are sad individuals who want to think that they're controlling the matrix.
 
They should just leave it hacked. Probably generated more traffic from people viewing the hack than from people using the site :)
