More disturbing than any of this, and this is very disturbing, is the silence on the PetroSA/Oilgate saga. And I'm talking about the silence from everyone except the MG and the DA.

With Local Government Elections these sorts of antics will be coming fast and furious.
The problem is that these issues raised are of concern even if they are scoring political points.
Not that I support the DA or anything,
I just hope that the opposition parties fair better in the next elections.
A one party state is not in the countries interests.
If only the masses could just realise this. It might be tea and cookies in the short term, but Africa has got a poor track record as far as One Party States is concerned.
What would be nice is if we could have a 50:50 scenario in politics similar to the Yanks. Each party checking on the other.
I am just not sure why Tony Leon of the DA is not liked by certain members. Perhaps he says it the way it is and the ones on the gravy train don't like it.
I do Community Service in our Ward and I have seen Councillors just backing policy decisions whether they are right or wrong, even if it is to the detriment of the area. These people we have no time for.
One of the local Councillors even has debt collectors hounding him?
In some of these politicians’ cases I think it is merely employment for them.
They have no "heart" for what they are doing and the area suffers accordingly.

Our goverment is running a country elected by the uninformed (which in my opinion, they wish to keep that way), under the influence of empty rainbow-painted promises, while being fed the minimum and robbed of everthing else. All those who apose the regime, are purged from the circle of friends.
Awaits us, the glue factory does.
And to think, George Orwell wrote this story from past experience.

Officials at City Hall have run up a bill of R14 000 in one night at a Durban harbour restaurant. Their lavish dinner has been exposed by a whistle blower who reported it to an anti-corruption website.
Newly appointed council Speaker James Nxumalo, who was reported to have been part of the spending spree, has denied he was part of the group, saying he only "popped in" to collect a document from Desmond Myeza, the manager at the Speaker's Office.
The officials were apparently celebrating the resignation of former Speaker Nomusa Dube, now serving as an ambassador to the Czech Republic, and Nxumalo's appointment.
They allegedly started calling for doggie bags, while others re-ordered meals
An employee at Splashes, the Point Waterfront restaurant, reported the incident through the DA website. He said the council employees had three-course meals and some drinks one evening last week.
Some, including Nxumalo, left after the meal and "all hell then broke loose". They allegedly started calling for doggie bags, while others re-ordered meals, desserts and expensive liquor for take-aways.
Myeza said the evening started with 20 people, 10 of whom left after the three-course meal at 8.30pm.
"But 10 people stayed behind and started increasing the bill by re-ordering. We are aware of this and have embarked on an internal disciplinary process," said Myeza.
He refused to explain why the bill was not closed when he, the Speaker and guests left the restaurant.
DA spokesperson Lyn Ploos van Amstel said the actions of the employee could save Durban's residents from picking up the tab of the bill.
Municipal Manager Mike Sutcliffe said the allegations were brought to him by more than one party. "I am investigating and will in due course report to those who raised the matter."
