ANC complicit in breakdown at SABC: DA

“These were hard-working, committed, journalists who committed the ‘sin’ of standing up for the integrity of the SABC.

“We must continue mass rolling action until the integrity of the SABC is restored.

“We are also here today to demand action from Parliament.”

Van Damme said the DA would hand over a memorandum with 17 demands to Communications Minister Faith Muthambi and Mthembu’s parliamentary offices.

The demands include reinstating the fired SABC journalists, dropping the charges against the remaining journalists, implementing Icasa’s decision to reverse the ban on the airing of footage of violent protests, and to suspend SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng.

Shouldn't Hlaudi also be arrested for Contempt of Court and Obstruction of Justice ?

Good point,
Is Sabc CEO a political position?

Like you might find a "political officer" on a sub, who has more say than the captain.

No its not,

And no you won't find an officer on the sub who has more say than the captain. The boat belongs to the captain.

But the XO needs to verify/confirm his commands especially when they've been ordered to execute a retaliatory nuclear strike and the comms cut out just before the last message from HQ was received ... f-it, I'm watching Crimson Tide again tonight!

Hlaudi is COO, so is not the Captain, which is the CEO.

But if you are mates with Numbawun, that tends to elevate your power.

verify/confirm commands yes....

But you will not get a random political officer (I'm guessing he means something like a CIA operative) who can overrule the Captain.

Isn't Russian subs set out that way? During Stalin's time?
So hludi is like a "political officer" at the Sabc, what he says comes from the kings mouth so it's got to be respected!

Chances are very slim....

The person in charge is the commanding officer/captain... there will be nobody on the vessel that can override the captain other than in a very limited scope in relation to a specific mission that the submarine may be on.

And no, Hlaudi is not a "political officer", he is merely a political appointee who is beyond incompetent and there is zero respect.

But still he is a political appointment, not a business one.

Why is it he has the power to dismiss employees and change policies.

So that's why I bring up "political officer"
As one of those could always override or veto the captain.

And that is something very worrying indeed.
