Did they say, "automatic", because automatic is still a process? I see they must be charged guilty, which is also a process, and with all processes there are appeals so when somebody is automatically expelled do expect an automatic appeal. Fairness and all that.

All in all, more will be done to avoid a trial. I mean Zuma has long wanted his day, but is seemingly never available when he had his day. This is being tested as I type.

For me, this sounds like real electioneering talk. The ANC wants to be popular, /cough, make the ANC great again.

Being a cadre is the way; it is captured within the ANC's ethos.

The reason they want to do this is because if the person is no longer a member they don't have to investigate them. If they are still a member the ANC shows itself as a corrupt organization by doing nothing or recycling the person in another position. The person caught with their hands won't quit as they there is a small chance they get prosecuted when caught and even if they are, worse case it will take 5 to 20 years to get prosecuted in which they can get more tenders or collect their usual salary in those year. No sane person would quit.
 
It's been two years since that ANC MEC was charged raping his twin 7 year old daughters yet he still posts photos of himself once a week to facebook. He knows nothing will happen to him. Prosecution, forensics and police all made inept by cANCer. The higher up in the ANC you are the more get out of jail free cards you get.

Big difference between being charged with committing a crime and being found guilty of a crime.

And that is essentially why the "step-aside" rule was going to fail from the start like most things the ANC has come up with.

If you make people step aside when charged with a crime, then all it takes to get rid of a political opponent is to convince the NPA to lay charges. And by convince, I mean instruct the incompetent deployed cadre loyal to your faction....

If you make people step aside only once found guilty, then the accused can keep himself in power for years just by playing the appeals and counter appeals game like Zuma is doing.

You are not going to "fix" the ANC by hoping those guilty of corruption cooperate and excuse themselves when asked to do so. You need to remove their reason for being there and that means the ANC has to let go of it's dreams of managing the means of production, holding the "levers of state" and all that NDR bull-crap.

Make the civil service non-political and merit based and most of this crap goes away.
