CAPE TOWN - ANC councillor Loyiso Nkohla has
been expelled from the party following his
involvement in faeces-dumping protests.
Nkohla and former City of Cape Town councillor
Andile Lili were charged with, among others,
bringing the African National Congress into
disrepute.
They led protesters to dump faeces on the steps
of the Western Cape legislature and at Cape
Town International Airport last year.
Prior to Monday's ruling by the Dullah Omar
regional disciplinary committee, Nkohla was
serving out a three-year suspension from the
party after he disrupted an ANC event in Cape
Town where President Jacob Zuma was speaking.
"After his previous suspension, he failed to
rehabilitate himself," committee chairman Faizel
Moosa said.
Lili's membership was suspended for in effect one
year on similar charges.

It's good to see that the ANC went through with gettingbrid of this guy.

It took them this long? Election puppets how much do you think he is being paid so go shut up in the corner?

bringing the African National Congress into disrepute.

So dumping **** gets the ANC into disrepute, but stealing, lying and being uneducated, uncivilized morons doesn't?
IMO this is just a load of crap.

.. and here I thought the ANC have been a disreputable organisation for years. He must mean "into even more disrepute"

The ringleaders of the so-called "poo protests" in Cape Town will appeal sanctions imposed on them by the ANC, they said on Tuesday.

ANC councillor Loyiso Nkohla was expelled from the party following his involvement in last year's dumping of human faeces during protests in the city.

Nkohla and former City of Cape Town councillor Andile Lili were charged with, among others, bringing the African National Congress into disrepute.

Lili was given a suspended three-year sentence, disqualifying him from participating in ANC activities for one year.

They led protesters in dumping faeces on, among others, the steps of the Western Cape legislature and at Cape Town International Airport last year.

Lili said the group would approach the national structures of the ruling ANC to launch an appeal, as they did not trust the provincial and regional leadership of the party.

"These people are colluding with the DA... the regional leadership; we've seen them kissing Helen Zille during the march of the ANC, hugging Helen Zille in front of the masses, showing they are living with Zille in Constantia," Lili said.

The two men claimed the provincial and regional leadership were getting rid of anyone who could challenge them at the ANC's provincial conference this year.

Anc taking back the WC, I think not.

ANC welcomes back 'poo protesters'

Cape Town - The ringleaders of last year's so-called "poo protests" in Cape Town have been welcomed back into the ANC fold, a Western Cape party official said on Monday.

"Loyiso Nkohla and Andile Lili have been re-instated as fully-fledged members of the ANC," provincial disciplinary committee chair Fezile Calana told Sapa.

"They can participate in structures just like any other person."

Nkohla was expelled from the party following his involvement in last year's dumping of human faeces during protests in the city.

Nkohla and Lili, a former City of Cape Town councillor, were charged with, among others, bringing the ANC into disrepute.

Lili was given a suspended three-year sentence, disqualifying him from participating in ANC activities for one year.

They led protesters in dumping faeces on, among others, the steps of the Western Cape legislature and at Cape Town International Airport last year.

Calana said they decided to uphold the appeal based on technical flaws in the regional disciplinary committee's (RDC) proceedings.

The RDC had contravened the ANC constitution by exceeding time limits set for certain processes.

"The constitution states that once a structure is unable to make a decision in six months, then they must request an extension from the national disciplinary committee and they did not do this."

There had also been an issue with the way the transcriptions of sessions were handled and who was given access to the recordings, Calana said.

He said such technical issues needed to be dealt with in future.

Anticipating criticism regarding the committee's decision, Calana said: "Whether we had ruled in favour or not in favour of the appeal, one has to uphold the constitution."

He said that while Nkohla and Lili had conducted a campaign that was not endorsed or led by the ANC, they had taken forward the struggles of residents.

"The ANC has got to be within those communities and be able to take those struggles of the people and lead.

"If you were sitting with pota pota [portable toilets] inside the house for more than two days with your family, you would ask yourself how far those people in those areas should have been pushed."

Lili was given his marching orders by the City of Cape Town in March last year after a multi-party disciplinary committee found him guilty on charges related to the illegal demolition of houses.

The Western Cape High Court upheld his expulsion.

Lili's application for leave to appeal against the court's ruling was denied at the start of the month, the Cape Times reported.

Since when has the ANC been worried about the party being brought into disrepute.

This act won't detract from the opinion that ANC supporters have of other ANC party members ... it would only lessen (into negative numbers) the respect that other party members would have of the ANC (and of which the ANC don't care the least about).

It looks more like a stuff up with the charges, which the ANC are trying to spin as taking them back.

How disorganised can an organisation be; that it can't expelled a member who throws poo in their name... in as public a place as possible, the airport?

How on earth do they mess this up? There is video footage and still pics of them doing it!

SACP WELCOMES RETURN OF ANC MEMBERS

The return of Andile Lili and Loyiso Nkohla to the ANC will strengthen the party ahead of the May 7 election, the SA Communist Party said on Tuesday.

SACP Brian Bunting district secretary Benson Ngqentsu said the unity of the party was key to "liberating" the working class and the poor.

Lili and Nkohla's re-instatement into the African National Congress was announced by the provincial disciplinary committee on Monday.

Nkohla was expelled from the party following his involvement in last year's dumping of human faeces during protests in Cape Town.

The charges against Nkohla and Lili, a former City of Cape Town councillor, included bringing the ANC into disrepute.

Lili was given a suspended three-year sentence, disqualifying him from participating in ANC activities for one year.

Nkohla and Lili led protesters in dumping faeces on the steps of the Western Cape legislature and at Cape Town International Airport last year.

"We will never keep quiet when there is an attempt to silence those who are advancing the struggle of the working class," Ngqentsu said.

"Hence our view remains that discipline is meant to rehabilitate those who transgress the rules, not to victimise opponents and settle political scores."

On Monday, provincial disciplinary committee chairman Fezile Calana said the party decided to uphold the appeal based on technical flaws in the regional disciplinary committee's (RDC) proceedings.

The RDC had contravened the ANC constitution by exceeding time limits set for certain processes.

I guess they've realised it's better to have them inside the tent throwing crap out, than outside the tent throwing crap in, to paraphrase a saying ...
