The Economic Freedom Fighters says it has come to its attention that the offices of provincial and national government departments plus ANC provincial offices and Luthuli House in Johannesburg and Tshwane have not been paying basic services like water and electricity for years.

“The EFF has learnt that Luthuli House has never paid rates and taxes since moving into the building‚ that they have fallen behind by years on water and electricity bills and some of the government departments have not paid for more than five years‚” the EFF said in a statement.

“These defaults have been kept under cover all along under the leadership of erstwhile mayors Parks Tau and Kgosientso Ramokgopa‚” it added.

The party said it would push for an investigation on the matter and if it was found that indeed the defaults have been protected illegally‚ the two former mayors must be “called to account and charged where applicable”.

The EFF noted that all individuals‚ organisations and companies were compelled by law to pay for services rendered to them.

“Government and the ANC are equally compelled to comply‚ failing which they must suffer the same fate they have been subjecting our people to over the past 22 years‚” it asserted.

It called on the municipalities of Tshwane and Johannesburg to apprise the nation on the status of these accounts and take the necessary steps.

“If it is indeed found that Luthuli House has not been paying for services‚ those services must be terminated with immediate effect. The same fate must befall government defaulters too.”

So basically like little Sowetos then? But that's not really on your list of wrongs to rectify though, is it, EFF?

Government and political parties should lead by example. Good if the EFF exposes corruption. ;)

+1

We may not like the EFF but that doesn't mean they don't make some valid points.

Doubt it stops at their offices. Check all their current and ex-office bearers' residential home addresses too.

This should be good either way .
If they have not paid that will make for some special BS hitting the fan .

:D the ANC will be scrambling .

Juju must be rubbing his hands in glee .
Nothing like sticking it to the man .

I thought this was known fact? During the "hacking" of the joburg billing system....wasn't there someone that discovered a bunch of government related buildings weren't paying?

Seem to vaguely recall something like that.

The DA should just do what the cANCer regime did to Joburg residents: "accidentally" cut off water and electricity with immediate effect to Luthuli House etc before the accounts are investigated for arrears.

Even better if the DA could pump sewage back into Luthuli House, this in turn would result in order being restored to this universe.

Anything and everything anc related should be checked.

Let's also not forget about when Dodgy Danny and his little electricity "mix up" was found out.
I'm sure with a bit of digging many, many similar "mistakes" will be uncovered.

It really is just too easy... I love it! Keep chipping away day by day and eventually it will fall, then we can all get on with our lives.

Luthuli House up-to-date with municipal payments

ANC headquarters, Luthuli House, is up-to-date with payments for municipal services.

This was revealed by Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba during the council meeting held on 13 September. The mayor was responding to a question and request by EFF councillor, Silumko Mabona who instructed the him to investigate whether the ANC had been paying for municipal services. Mabona had said there were doubts that the ANC paid for municipal services ever since occupying their offices in the city centre.

This allegation came as no surprise as the national office of the EFF also released a statement on 12 September, citing the same allegations. “The EFF has learnt that Luthuli House has never paid rates and taxes since moving into the building, that they have fallen behind by years on water and electricity bills and some of the government departments have not paid for more than five years,” reads the EFF statement.
