ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa is to lead an ANC delegation to Perth, Australia, to woo South African voters living there and possibly establish a branch of the party, the Sunday Times reported.

"The ANC is a non-racial organisation, and obviously we will not leave out any voters that are likely to vote for us," African National Congress international relations subcommittee head and deputy minister in the presidency Obed Bapela told the newspaper.

"So we will be targeting Australia because of the number of South Africans that are there."

According to the report, an estimated 80 000 South Africans are living in Australia.

Bapela said the South Africans in Australia had left because of the high crime rate, and now, 20 years into democracy, had reconnected with South Africa.

Bapela said the Australian trip was a "fact-finding mission", and if it was found there was enough support, the party may establish a branch in Perth.

The ANC was also planning a rally in London next month, where it had set up a branch. - Sapa

Another drop-n-run article by [-]Redeemed[/-] Chris.

I'm not obliged to give my opinion on all the articles I post. Many people post N&CA articles without adding much comment.

But just for you (thought it would be bleeding obvious though): A waste of time as almost all of the emigrants left precisely because of the incompetence of the ANC government....and things haven't got better since they left.

Edit: Not that you add much to any N&CA articles. All you do is criticise Marine1 & Co.

Wonder what would happen if the plane doesn't make it...

Setting up an ANC branch in Australia to woo the voters who left because of the ANC......... can't see any flaws there.

Hope they have a heatwave.

^^^ In the Sunday Times it was quoted that the delegates "expect a warm welcome" - unless there is a heatwave, I doubt it. All expatriates left this country either due to crime or lifestyle choice - both factors which the ANC managed not to improve in the last decade.

the question is quite simple: Are the ANC using public resources or ANC funds to do this?

This is friggen hilarious! The actual audacity and self-inflated egos to think the VERY people they chased away will vote for them...

There go more tax millions wasted. Any fecking excuse will do for the brainless in power!

All I read is ANC delegates are going on holiday to Perth followed by a holiday to London.

Millions of people living in South Africa and delegates are going to canvas for 80 000. Ya, right.

Obvious? You labour under a misapprehension.

I have many relatives who emigrated to Australia (and elsewhere) because of their opposition to the apartheid regime. Of course they went before ninety-four.

Well they haven't come back so obivously the country run by the ANC is not that appealing to them. And DA is not pro Apartheid so no need to vote for the ANC either.
