South Africa’s ruling African National Congress wrested control of Johannesburg, the nation’s economic hub, back from the main opposition Democratic Alliance, when its candidate, Geoff Makhubo, was elected the city’s mayor.

Lol, seems like there was a lot of expected backstabbing. Seems one, or probably more than one, DA member also voted for the ANC.

At the end of the day, this does not matter. The DA is a broken party. It was broken in two pieces right at the lower back side. No matter who rules the country or provinces any longer. There is only one way going forward for South Africa. Western Cape included.

Clearly politics is not my Forte

So how does this work, surely then that elected official in charge of governing the financial hub of the country was not voted in by the majority (the majority voted for the DA - the people voted DA during the municipal election) so how come a small minority can change the DA to ANC behind closed doors when the people voted the opposite?

Mashaba resigned because he didn't like people in the DA telling Mmusi to stop being a SJW, because well that's racist. So they needed a new mayor.

The DA Only received the majority, however, not a 51% majority.
So I would assume the EFF voted the way of the ANC's candidate seeing as they were the "kingmaker" in this trifecta as it were.
I might be very wrong haven't read anything pertaining to this.
