ANC takes five wards in by-elections

Sure. You might be right.
But for those of us trying to campaign to get ANC voters to vote for the DA, you make our life harder

Why? I am not the DA. People are not voting for me or my policies or thoughts.
Amazing that people will use my attitude as an excuse to vote for the party that is robbing them blind and giving them the finger. Like i said, Sheeple will sheep.

It just makes you feel better. For those of us trying to get people to switch their votes, your superior attitude (While it might be justified) makes our life infinitely more difficult

Actually, I think it is just a cop-out. An excuse to justify people's own misgivings or failures or hang-ups. Whatever.

Look if people want to vote DA let them... if they are smart enough to figure it out.
But don't spend your life chasing after fickle voters.
If you can buy their vote by soothing them, or placating them or by chatting them up nicely, then somebody is going to come along and talk them right out of it.... or offer them a food parcel as a bribe.
You are never going to win like that.
People need to vote out of a strong conviction, not some temporary trite ten minute change-of-heart.

If your convincing of them fails because some moron on the internet somewhere said something disparaging about them in an off-handed third party way, then I think you seriously need to get a life... and they need to stop being so damn sensitive.
it's not about the individuals, it's about the country.

The worrying thing is that I am not seeing ANY change on voting patterns by ANC voters.
Well Gary, honestly has their IQ changed since they last voted? I think we all know the answer.

I don't think it is about IQ honestly. I think it is all about exposure. You have millions of voters in this country who live in rural areas and are not very well exposed to current events or multiple forms of media.
They are educated to a minimum level by the ANC system, but lack of service delivery keeps them in a state of perpetual borderline poverty and keeps them divorced from the goings on in the halls of the State Buildings in Pretoria or the offices of the News Hounds in Johannesburg. THOSE are the ones who are going to keep voting ANC simply because they honestly do not know anything better. Most of them have never even heard of Nkandla. They just know that somewhere out there is a man named Zuma who is their president because he is ANC and the ANC delivered them from the evil white racists. That really is ALL it is about to them. And even if they have heard of Nkandla, so what? Let the black man stick it to the white man. It's about time that some black people got a leg up, they think.

In an ideal world, yes.
At the moment, bringing down the ANC majority is of vital importance to our democracy. Every single vote is of paramount importance.
Once the political realignment is done, yes focusing on good voters might be good (Much like the tea party has removed support of more fickle voters in the Republican party)

If someone is still bent on voting ANC after ALL the evidence they have been exposed to of massive corruption and maladministration then that person needs a damn good insult.
Actually, they need a smack upside the head.

A big reason why people don't vote DA is due to their supporters (Not the members). Turns out insulting people isn't a great way to convince them to change their vote

Reason why I wont vote DA if we can vote in London. Last thing I want is to be associated with some of the neo-nazis here on mybb :)

Or possibly there are other reasons that they vote for the ANC despite the ANC's failings. But you clearly have no desire to understand their point of view, and choose to insult them instead

Yes, because the so-called neo-nazis have so much power in dictating DA policy . You need to look at the leadership of the DA to see that many things said on here have no hope in hell in making into a DA policy document.

If their intention is to vote for a party that is failing them, then I think they are stupid yes. So does common sense. Probably science as well. And God. And Chuck Norris.

Yeah, f**k democracy, beat the crap out of someone who votes for the other guy. Just be careful they don't follow suite :D And there is more of them.....

The ANC set the trend here:

Cool. Enjoy it then when you have to deal with voting patterns remaining the same

I don't find it likely that my opinions are going to make any difference to the voting patterns of the majority, sadly. You're blaming the messengers here.

One of the most frequent issues we deal with is being told about how the DA supporters insult them, and why would they want to join a party with supporters like that. So yes, it is a very real problem for us

Yeah, forgive my skepticism, but I don't really think you are a DA supporter anyway. Seriously, your comments and criticisms on this forum just do not fit the bill of a typical DA supporter. Maybe I am wrong, but my take on it is that you are just using this as a front for complaining about criticisms of ANC voters. If you really are a DA supporter then you are not a very supportive one as you seem to side with ANC more often than not... and you seem to have nothing but criticism for the DA. That just strikes me (excuse the pun on your name) as nonsensical.

I'm a member actually.
And because I'm not rapidly against the ANC, or because I criticise the DA when they do wrong, you think I'm not a supporter of theirs anymore? Says a lot

They don't have to join the party. They don't have to associate with other supporters. Just vote on the policies. It's politics, not a social club.
