ANC website contents deleted in apparent hack

A good few years ago I actually downloaded their whole site to my PC. Buried deep inside I found documents about MK operating manuals, how to evade detection, clandestine communication etc. I'm sure there was more ....must go and have a look again when I get a moment.

all fun and games until your wife poisons your to marry another man

Good Morning

2. We are south african's, we eat and live with you.
3. We don't go against democracy but against acts that are done in name of democracy
4. We will fight for people of South Africa to have justice
5. We will not sacrifice a soul to execute our task
6. We assess the task before we plan.

"The website of the African National Congress (ANC) is returning a blank page when you visit it..."

Still trying to think of a reason I would want to visit the site :wtf:

“We have successfully hacked and deleted all contents within [the] ANC website,” the group said in an e-mailed statement. “We seized up documents which will be released to media very soon.”

Unless it's a mass resignation letter of JZ and all his ANC henchmen, it's hardly worth holding breath for.

This is the basic truth behind so many dev companies that wanna make bucks - like that's all they can think about, bucks. Ah well, they must keep being dumb. Their problem. Don't really care anyway.

And it's down again...

Could not connect: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (111)

Is it WordPress site? I thought it was something home baked. Builtwith did not show it as WordPress and structure did not look like it.

I didn't check, responded to the typical WP config file in that post.

Was about to check and ...

I bet when they are finished rolling out free wifi in Soweto they'll be like, where's this free wifi? ANC's be like, what you mean, get a simcard. Thanks for the R30 million !

And I bet the devs are sleeping. No around-the-clock support. In fact, I bet that's a guarantee.

Yep, it is government. No haste in getting the website up and running again.

Besides, had a look at http://ancarchives.org.za - ftp://ancarchives.org.za as well. That was down too. Seems they took down the whole server and everything hosted on it, not only the anc website alone.

That site points to the same database, which is why it's also down.

Edit: In fact, I believe that, after today's hack, both sites began pointing to a mirror database called ancarc (ANC Archives). Then that went down too. It could just be that the system needs a reboot to get the services started up again.

Update: Lol, they're actually the same installation... I think.
