The ANC in Limpopo has received video footage from the party's head office asking them to identify members who smashed shop windows in August 2011, the Sowetan reported on Friday.
Youths looted several shops around Luthuli House in Johannesburg's CBD when the ANC Youth League's former leader Julius Malema was appearing before the disciplinary committee. They were demonstrating their anger over the charges that were brought against him.
The video footage showed most of the youths trashing streets and burning T-shirts bearing the picture of President Jacob Zuma.
According to the report the African National Congress intelligence and security members met party leaders from Botlokwa in Polokwane on Wednesday where they showed them the footage.
Vusi Ramusi, an ANC leader in Botlokwa told the daily: "I can confirm that I was summoned to help identify people who took part in the stone-throwing incident at Luthuli House, and have positively identified some of the youths as those coming from our area."
