Nice. I must say that Sony is really going all out on the premium lenses. The G lenses are really well made.

The only problem with the 300 2.8 is that you need to work out at the gym before you can carry it around...

The 80-400 hopefully will fill that gap of not too expensive good zoom lenses it won't be cheap but if it's well priced we'll hopefully see some nice shiny silver amongst the masses of Canon white

My Canon f/2.8 16-35 L is the most expensive piece of glass I own - what is it about that range that makes the glass so pricy?

It also makes me wish I had some friends with top notch kit too!

I'm sure it's the F/2.8 - you need big glass and that glass has to be ground to very high specs.

The Zeis glass is Zeis glass. Not knocking the Canon L glass, but Zeis glass is generally better regarded.

The Sony 300mm and Canon 300mm F2.8 are on a par. I know some Sony guys are going to want to crucify me for saying that, the Sony is supposedly slightly better in some aspects, but i think its much of a muchness.

Hard to say, why does a Rolls Royce cost so much more than a BMW 760i -- they even share the same/similar engine and I(diot) Drive system. You pays your money and makes your choice I guess.

Weather was sh*t so I hardly used the big lens... I was scared to get caught in the rain with it What I can say is SSM FTW!! Focussing is super fast!

I shot some nice stuff of kids running around with the 24-70. Having a fast lens gives a lot of latitude when using natural light. Some of the shots came out really nicely, but I can't post them unfortunately... they're not all my kids.

The 16-35 is insane on a full frame camera... the angle of view is huuuuge. There is a fair amount of distortion at it's widest, but it isn't unpleasant.

One of these days I'll have to get a ff body to use mine with - apparently the distortion isnt all that bad.
