I exist only in my own mind ...
Don't you love it when a perfectly simple procedure is improved to a more intuitive solution?

Word 2003

1. Start Word 2003.
2. Put or insert the item that you want to scan in (or on) the scanner.
3. Click Insert, and then point to Picture, and then click From Scanner or Camera.
4. If you have more than one device attached to your computer, under Device select the device that you want to use, and then click Custom Insert.
5. Follow your scanner software procedure for scanning images.

When your scanner is finished, the image is inserted in your Word document.

Word 2007

1. Start Word 2007.
2. On the Insert tab, click Clip Art.
3. In the Clip Art pane, click Organize clips.
4. On the File menu, point to Add Clips to Organizer, and then click From Scanner or Camera.
5. Select the image, click Add, and then close Microsoft Clip Organizer.

How did you work out that way to do it on 2007? I would have no idea....

Wouldn't it be easier to just get the picture from your scanner and then insert it through clicking Picture on the Insert tab?

I actually did the exact same thing as you, searched the word scanner. The other option that they give is just to get the file from your scanner then insert through Picture.

That is there official response anyway, I think the other method is if you want it permanently into your clip art to use it any time.

While we on Word 2007 can anyone tell me how to get the Word 2003 equivalent for Insert> Auto Text > Header/Footer > Filename and path.

Would appreciate it.

umm........dont know if this is what you looking for but anyways......try double clicking at the top of a page, you should get into the place where you can edit headers.....then press "quickparts" on the menu, and press field. scroll down the field names you should find "filename", description of it is: the documents name and location .remember to tick the box on the right hand "add path to filename"

hope it works :)
