Andoid 4.3 Update worth it ? (S4 Vodacom)

Hi Guys

I got my S4 this weekend, I did some research on the 4.3 update and many are having issues with it, others seem ok. Is it worth doing, or should I wait for the next available update to come out?

I had no problems whatsoever with my S4 after upgrading to 4.3. However the biggest problem is that in upgrading to 4.3 you have to upgrade to Kies3 and here lies the catch.. you can no longer sync with Outlook on your PC. Samsung have been dragging their feet with this problem for months and have still not produced a fix for Kies3. Quite pathetic!
 
My S4 on vodacom had no problems with the upgrade so far
 
It's coming out in January but we'll have to download the ROM and install it because it takes forever to be released here.
 
Thanks for the feedback guys. Is your battery life still the same though?
This shouldn't effect google calendar sync right?
I use that daily to sync outlook with my Google Calendar..

I did not notice any loss in battery life, if anything it may have improved but can't be sure about that. Can't comment on Google calender as I don't use it but thinking about it maybe that's why Samsung are dragging their feet to sort out the Kies3 sync problem, are they trying to encourage us to change to Gmail and Google calender?

Google calendar works pretty well i must say.
Does this update look different from 4.2.2?
It is probably worth doing, hopefully won't have problems.
 
I guess using Google calender would make a lot of sense if you used Gmail a lot but I use Outlook. I do however have a (hardly used) Gmail account. Can I sync my Outlook calender with Google on my laptop then share it on my S4?

No real difference in looks. They just added a new APP called Knox which seems to duplicate a whole bunch of the already installed Samsung Apps.

By the way my connection is through MTN and from what I have read your software through Vodacom or another provider may sometimes be a bit different. Maybe others can comment on this?
 
If you want to do custom ROMs then DO NOT upgrade.

Samsung's 4.3 update includes Knox which is software that installs itself into the bootloader and if you install a custom ROM then it trips a flag. If your phone gives hardware issues and you flash it back to stock the flag is still there and Samsung will say warranty void.
 
Yes, I use Google Calendar sync.
A small PC app that syncs your outlook calendar directly.
You can setup 1 or 2 way file sync.

Im quite happy with the standard ROM, no need for me to change..

Do not upgrade to 4.3. I did and am sorry. Many issues. Even without the issues, I see NO benefit over 4.2.
