He leads Gartner's research into MDM, with a focus on the drill-down topic of creating the "single version of the product" using MDM of product data. He has chaired or co-chaired Gartner's annual summit since its inception. Mr. White has a strong background in supply chain management (SCM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP). He also contributes to Gartner's research into multienterprise business processes and applications. Mr. White received the Gartner Thought Leadership Award in 2006 for his effort in pioneering Gartner's research in enterprise information management that led to MDM, and he was a nominee for the Gartner Thought Leadership Award in 2007 for his work on MDM specifically.
Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. White was in the software industry for eight years, consulting on SCM/SCP and collaboration (CPFR, CTM) solutions to CPG/retail companies mainly in the U.S. Mr. White also served on the VICS (www.vics.org) CPFR (www.cpfr.org) Advisory Committee, where he chaired the Trading Exchange Interoperability subcommittee and previously chaired the n-tier CPFR subcommittee. His last role there was heading up product strategy. Before that, he served in the CPG/retail space in the U.K., where he worked for Elizabeth Arden, a cosmetics company.
