I rooted my Viewpad 7 Android 2.2 tablet with 512Mb ram, 8Gb SD card. I frequently (90% of the time) get error message "not enough storage space" despite having a 512Mb device, installing to SD card using Apps2SD installed, using App Cache Cleaner, etc. Am I the only person experiencing this kind of frustration ? Does all Android 2.2, 512Mb devices have the same limitation as the ones I am experiencing ?

I get the impression that installing apps on Android 2.2 is limited by the amount of on-board RAM, very much like the 'base memory' limitation of the ancient Intel 286/386/486 processors running MS DOS. I noticed that removing apps that run from SD card also free up RAM, which would make it possble to install small apps, under 512kb. Is it only me, or do you also experience being constrained by the memory limitation ? In order to install (new) apps I constantly have to remove apps, clear cache, install from app market. I usually get get 'out of storage space' messages when I have less than 10mb remaining. Shutting down & restarting has no effect. I checked that no unneeded apps run in background.

Example: According to "App cache cleaner" or standard Android SD card info I have 9mb free RAM. Before installing apps I usually flush cache. I am trying to d/l an app Funambol (1,4mb) for MS Outlook/Andoid sync. The download fails with "Not enough storage space". Is it only me or is this a contraint by the OS ?

RE: Is your Droid Incredible low on disk space?
So there is a fix for this...clear cache of email apps, facebook, etc. Also, don't use HTC Mail, use K-9 or MailDroid. Lastly, the mobile Firefox app can cause this -- uninstalling the app makes it go away, and reinstalling the app won't cause the error to come back for a few months.

I've already done all the steps suggested but makes no difference. I will rather get myself a tablet with 1Gb Ram.

Storage and RAM is completely different. How much storage do you have available on the SD Card?
