Android 2.3 OTA update...got it last night!

I have the same problem, there is no "Software Update" option on my Samsung Galaxy S. Only Firmware version which is currently 2.1

I knew there was a reason not to go Samsung.

Samsung update works differently, you must use the KISS software to update, also update for HTC Desire does not mean that there is one for the Galaxy S or Galaxy Tab

Argh!! Pressing 'Check for Updates' still gives me nothing! I want to update my Desire now dammit!!

I'm on Vodacom. (HTC Desire HD)

FAIL

Update downloads, then restarts phone to install... a green progress bar appears and runs to about 15-20%. then progress bar turns to a red question mark and phone reboots. No messages. Phone remains on 2.2...
Tried upgrade twice, no joy! :-(

Anyone else on Vodacom managed to update to 2.3???

Hope you're using WiFi or 3g or greater.

Don't you have to do software updates on the Samsungs through software on your pc? Kies?

The new update of Kies that I downloaded doesn't want to pick up the phone. It shows connecting then it says that I have to connect my device through Kies. I mean, that's what I'm doing.

I'm thinking of going back to HTC firmware. I've rooted to Cyanogenmod 7 and it's great! The battery lasts days instead of hours now... BUT! I really like the features of teh HTC Sense software and there's no internet pass-through on Cyanogenmod.

I 'accidentally' got a copy of the complete OTA package before my phone was updated. (Did a quick backup of my SD before selection okay)

It seems to have the hboot, recovery etc etc in the zip archive, is there any use in keeping it?
