Hi,

Some MTN Users confirmed that their HTC Desire HD phones updated to 2.3.3 starting last night.

I'm on Vodacom, and the update downloads, but fails to install.

Could people on Vodacom please state if you managed to update or fail?

Thanks!
B.

OK, so, 3rd time I tried update with battery charged and phone connected to wall charger and it worked.

Missed that in the notes?

Version: 2.3.3
Software Number: 2.36.421.10

Whohooo...

Hope you didn't have to download the update each time...

Sent from my HTC Desire using MyBroadband Android App

Braamm, do you mean that you needed the phone to be on wall charger before the update worked?
Also, how are you finding the updated look n feel? laggy or smooth, I see some guys on the main HD thread are complaining about slowdowns etc?

Tnx

Hi,

Just chipping in to say that I've also don the update last night.

1. Power Supply
I had already plugged in the power before checking for updates, so cannot confirm whether it needs to be plugged in or not

2. Update Size
The update is around 100mb so a Wi-Fi connection is definately recommended

3. Post-update Performance
So far there seems to be a slight Improvement in UI speed.
Haven't tested all apps on it yet, but eveything I have seems to be working fine

Reporting back on my original post, I can confirm that he battery life has definitely improved. No need to turn USB debugging ON to get the CPU usage down.

Any idea when they are releasing 2.3.4? The voice chat in google talk is a feature that has been missing for too long.

Odd, my battery life has greatly been reduced, just this morning, while in idle the phone went from 100% to 95% in the span of about 30 minutes. and it could not have been other apps running in the background since i completely reset the phone factory settings etc before last night. all previously installed stuff was off, sim wasn't even unlocked yet, still in aeroplane mode... That is just WEIRD imho

To further elaborate, without data usage, on standby, the phone was at 67% by 9am, it was started up at 6 to give an accurate idea of how ludicrous battery usage was on STANDBY.

I think battery needs to be retrained or something, mine also sucked for the 1st 2 days

Thats what I thought too, I'm going that route but dunno how effective it is without root? Can mere runflat-fullcharge-runflat cycles retrain the battery without removing batterystats.bin file?

And just to report back, after a few cycles of draining and full charge, the batt is still lively at 60/70 percent by the time I get home, two days in a row I had the same results

For some reason my battery is doing well during the day but come about 8 to 9 at night it just go downhill fast.

I think the cold weather plus playing Modern Warfare multiplayer on my phone, while in bed might have something to do with it.
