Android 3.0 Honeycomb Preview event

Some commentary:
  • Nice new interface, intuitive multitasking and nice widgets++
  • Spent an huge amount of effort to make sure that existing android apps run well on tablets
  • An app that's designed with our recommended guidelines will run really well on Honeycomb
  • Fruit ninja works really well even tho it hasn't been ported
  • He's showing how the animation moves back and forth between the homescreen and customization
  • (I gotta say it was stuttertastic IMO) :D
  • 3D video wall for YouTube... kinda nice
  • Similar thing with the books app which shows you a 3D wall of books
  • Google body in 3D
  • New 3D Google Maps - I think this is awesome!
  • Some games and stuff coming to Android
  • New web App store - you can browse apps online, buy them and they'll be pushed to your phone!
  • New advanced search options on the Market

Very nice, now when are we gonna get Tablets running Honeycomb? Are you able to update the Galaxy Tab to Honeycomb?

Last I checked, the Galaxy Tab will not be receiving an official Honeycomb update.

@Synaesthesia

It looked pretty smooth from where I was sitting, but I think the only way to really tell would be to see for ourselves. The camera could have been laggy or it could have been due to the tablet outputting to the projector (or it could have been stuttertastic).

The Google apps look really good and it's good to see that we have some solid game devs coming to Android.

The new interface and widgets look fantastic. I can't wait to actually use one of the tabs coming out. It's going to be a fun year :D

Yes from some reading I've done it seems Android 3.0 finally supports hardware acceleration, which means no more stuttering! (hopefully)
