The thought crossed my mind when a colleague of mine tried to load "Fruit Ninja - Free" on a newly purchased tab for one of her little one at home.It wasn't available on the play store on the device.Going to the play store via the web browser noted that no devices linked to that specific Google account was compatible with the app.

A quick Google search yielded results for the APK file, but it seemed very dodge.

I downloaded the free version of the app on my phone directly from Play Store, used titanium backup to copy the installer file, uploaded it to cloud storage and which generated a link and allowed her get the file.Downloaded and installed on the tab, tested the game and it seems to work fine.

How legal is this?(i know that its a download free, but the app owners may reserve the right for access to content based on whatever terms and conditions)
What would happen if the app was incompatible with the device?
Which regards to compatibility specifically,i understand why these restrictions are imposed but from a users point of view it could be frustrating(finding an alternative/sideloading from other sources)
Do you guys sideload apps?Is it worth the effort?

It usually means the app is not compatible for that device. You can sideload the app but the experience in the app might most likely be terrible.

Tell your friend to get the device onto the Amazon store :) Lots of games for kids that get given away there and many games also available (like fruit ninja, will let you install even if "incompatible") just gives a warning.
