I spoke to a sales man today, he said that in order for Android Auto to work, you need to connect your phone via the cable.
I thought you can connect via Bluetooth. The only thing I will use is the Google map future. Don't know what else is on it.
 
Without knowing what car or model. Android auto only works via cable.

Those with AAWireless have you noticed any issues with streaming music when you go under the e-Toll gantries? I have a Motorola MA-1 and it drops audio for half a second as I drive under the gantry.

I believe it might be disrupting the WiFi signal.
 
I have a 2022 Honda Amaze.

Android Auto works with my Huawei Mate20 Pro, but not with my Microsoft Surface Duo (ver 1).

I am using the Huawei's cable (USB-C --> USB-A) as the Surface Duo's cable is USB-C on both ends.
Can the cable make a difference?
Anyone else experience this?

Two questions:-

When your car headunit turns on , do you have to accept the safety warning absolving Honda for the crimes you commit while driving and interacting with the head unit. My 2019 CRV does this and I will never buy a Honda again because of this. If you don't tap, then the radio just goes back to clock mode. Just curious if they still persisting with this

For your duo, are your therefore using the USBC (duo) to USBA (car) and getting the issue ?

Perhaps there could be an issue in standard cable but I believe it is most likely the phone itself. Does it have the latest version of Android auto app ?

FWIW, I recently had a 2022 Kia Rio as a rental and plugged my phone via cable to it, Android auto automatically setup Bluetooth pairing and it all worked pretty nicely. Only one difference :- I couldn't use the on- screen keyboard on the headunit while car was in motion inside Google maps (primary use). It said only voice commands accepted. This doesn't happen when I use the CRV. So that's was interesting how the headunit can control other android functionality.

Oh and the KIA also had that stupid safety warning on their head unit at startup so another manufacturer whose cars I will never buy.

No warning on the Amaze to click - goes to last used function.

Yes, I'm using the Huawei's cable to connect the Duo's USB C to the car's USB A.

The cable makes a difference, yes. My s22 ultra would not work with my Huawei P30 Pro's cable.

I think Huawei does something weird with thier type a to type c cables to get it to support super charge. I tried a bunch of other cables and most other ones worked.

The Huawei cable could also not fast charge my s22 ultra.

That is for safety. It's like using your phone while you drive.

My 2022 also requires cable, I don't see why it would be an issue as everything generally needed is available.

Wtf, why in 2022 would they design a product for a mobile device where everything is wire-less including going as far as leaving out the headphone jack only to make this app only work when plugged in?

I saw a US review very recently of either the latest BMW or Hyundai EV and one complaint was also that Android auto required the phone to be plugged in. Is Apple CarPlay also like that?

I’m assuming with these headunits if you just want to play music you can still pair via BT and steam audio?
