Should suffice. As stated. Do do do.

If you want to make a career out of it, first go get a Comp Sci Degree. Fundamentals are far more important than specific technologies

Thanks i plan on making a career out of it but i would like to try it out before paying for proper studies etc. i dont want to pay for the studies and not enjoy it.

Have a look at http://www.pluralsight.com/training/Courses.

It has a free trial for 200 mins. There is an Andriod section.

The best way to learn to by doing. Best of luck :)

Thanks a lot i will most def try this as well.

Suppose the more material you read/ watch the better

I would suggest that you look around for an Android position as there is a shortage (IMHO) and a new employer might be prepared to invest in you.

but who would employ someone with nil knowledge of dev. i suppose the drive to learn for me is my "selling" point here...

Try YouTube google and the like. If your in cape town I know a guy who has Android meets and they help each other

Wow.. this is like "Deja-Vu" ...

Stille I agree with that you need to try this out and see if you enjoy it. Might just be surprised at how much you do enjoy it. Having said that - someone was correct - you learn best by doing. When I started iOS dev a few months back - I went through book after book and online tutorial after online tutorial. I eventually had the fundamentals down and the understanding of how the whole thing gets put together.

Then later after doing all these tutorials I decided to start working on my own iOS App. Man, I can tell you I learnt a crap load more doing my own project. It would have been a lot harder had I not gone through books and tutorials - but it was still a challenge and because I had no code to copy and no logic to copy - I had to put that thinking cap on.

I surprised myself at how much I knew and critically I found "gaps" in my knowledge on parts I thought I knew but didn't know very well. With that information I studied the part I didn't know and applied it to my project and can say now I know it 100%.

But I've just started and there is still crap loads to learn and new challenges every day - which is what I love!

Good luck bro and shout if you need help on anything!
