Need some help,
When I want to dial a contact, i start entering the name on the dialer and then when selecting the contact it comes up with a pop up asking to select either 1) the main number or 2) the mobile number

It only started doing this some time back perhaps with the new version of Android (Samsung)
The issue is, the main number is almost always the mobile number so it should only just let me select the name and dial.

Is there any way to have this go back to how it used to be?

Thanks
Maybe another kind of dialer?

Press and hold the main number, then set it as default. That will sort you out..

Where do you do this?
I have tried contacts and dialer and nothing happens when I do that

Go to the contact in the address book, long-click on the desired number, select set as default number.

It is the main number it's the only number in the contact
That's the weird thing if it's only 1 number why ask if I want the main the main or mobile number

Are you sure you don't have the contact/number added twice?

Definitely it's every number and I went to Google and deleted duplicates.
On your phone does it not do this ?
Using the S6 edge
I installed another dialer . True dialer and it doesn't have this issue but it's not as nice

No,
it dials the number I enter/the number set as main number if accessing the contact directly. Wonder what setting you might have hit, never seen it before.
