I have a Samsung S3 and wondering there's a way I can pull profile pics, birthdays, companies etc from Facebook like I did with the Blackberry?

I don't want it to sync with Facebook (which is what it just did ....) and load all the irrelevant people as my contacts. But if I put someone in, can it pull their details only?

yea, open facebook and go to the sync settings. Then select the option that says existing contacts only!

... I did mean contacts :P

And thanks!

+1.. and I'm quite sure thats done within the Facebook app itself. Not sure what syncing features Samsung's have. I know that HTCs have HTC Sense, which offers an alternative to sync with Facebook. Check your options.

you can try friendcaster, its nice because the profile pics show up in whatsapp as well, when I synced using the official app that didn't happen.

I used http://goo.gl/CZISq, most because the facebook app itself is crap, sync never worked for it anyway as google had blocked it or something. WOrks on HTC cause of its own 3rd party sense app, sot sure about samsungs as I never installed the FB app on my note.

How does it prioritize fields?

Like say for example I enter a contact in my Gmail contact with birthday 1 January 1980 - but his Facebook says 1 January 1981 .. which will the phone display?

Interesting question, never tested, my data has always been correct from the days of my berry which did update the phone with FB's data. Logically it would prioritize FB data as the assumption is the user entering their own data would be more likely to be correct.

Also as far as I know FB privacy settings can also get in the way of these syncings, so if that same user had their BDay on FB as 1981 but had it set to private it would not be able to sync it down anyway, you can only sync data that is public/friends anything more private than that is inaccessible.
