Just out of interest I would love to know what file managers people use or if they dont use them at all?

I use to use Astro at the start then moved to ES File Explorer because Astro's ad spam, but in June I started using MIUI with its build in file manager as it was simple elegant and did everything I needed, well everything except for browsing cloud stores.

That was until I found this little gem, File Expert. A free app that everything from browsing FTP, SMB to WebDAV and Bluetooth. As well as being able to connect to your Dropbox or Box accounts and copy and move files to the cloud.

As for my tablet I still prefer the look of File Manager HD

ASTRO File Manager: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.metago.astro Tablet + Phone
ES File Explorer: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop Phone (Looks the same on tablet)
File Expert: https://market.android.com/details?id=xcxin.filexpert Phone (Looks the same on tablet)
File Manager HD: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rhmsoft.fm.hd Tablet
File Manager: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rhmsoft.fm Phone

So is there any that I missed and why do you think its better than the above?

Blackmoon? Not sure why it's better (Or any good for that matter), I just always used this one.

I've used Adao File Manager. But to be honest it is a bit buggy and crashes occasionally. Will give one of the ones you mentioned a try perhaps.

I've only used Astro and ES from the ones you list (also using ES now), but neither of those allow for root access, so I supplement ES with Root Explorer.

Try File Expert, it has root access option in the settings.

ES has root access, you just turn it on in the settings. Off by default.

Menu>Settings>(scroll to bottom)>Enable Root Explorer.

I prefer ES's audio player and image viewer over others I've tried.

That only seems to work if your device is rooted. You can view the root by just changing the base directory to /
(Settings: Home directory)

ES File Explorer

ES File Explorer is the only file manager I've found that allows me to open network shared files "remotely" without the need to copy/cache the files locally first.

It works great. I don't want to stream movies, I just want to open them via the network share. Same goes for documents/PDFs music etc.
