What is the best option for an Android TV? (Google Certified)

  1. I tried a Sony Android TV but the firmware is full of bugs, no update in sight and the technical support is not existing in SA, more about it here: https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/sony-mea-shocking-service.1191024/#post-29485836
  2. Philips Android TV
  3. Hisense Android (support is terrible)
  4. TCL
Note: I am referring to the build in Android TV and not the Android TV box
For the Android TV box us an Ematic AGT419

If you go for anything other than Sony you're going to get a serious downgrade in picture quality.

...with WiFi only.....no thanks then the Ematic on LAN cable will be much better. 4K high bit rate movies does not stream well on WiFi.
It comes with the new AV1 format support so Netflix streams 4k at around 10mbps if not less. For torrents the world moved on to 2160p H265 10bit HE-AAC 9.1ch mkv files yonks ago. No need to download 50gb remuxes unless you want to download the internet or are looking for bragging rights.

Ok I am having a look at the Xiaomi Mi TV 4k stick

I like that it has:
Android 11
Dolby Vision
DTS-HD

Has anyone tested it with a DTS-HD file?

Don't like 8Gb Storage. It won't fit my whole Kodi Library
and no SD Card slot

I just checked that the new Nvidia Shield also got and upgrade

It now has these new features:

Android 11
Dolby Vision
DTS-HD
LAN port
Only 8GB storage but
does have SD card slot

Cost is $149 with $38 shipping, Does ship to SA from Amazon

Its pricey but is an option and is cheaper than Apple TV 4K
