Android "ID" name to Phone name

In my router under connected devices, android phones give me some random hexadecimal number by their name and I cant tell who's phone is who's.

How do i change this on the phone, I doubt the router can.

That is the phone's Wifi MAC address.

Its name has been changed but doesnt reflect in the router.

I'm out of ideas.

And strange how it looks like a mac address.

One other way is to switch off each device in turn, when it doesn't show anymore you know which is which, write it down or save it in a file.

Android doesn't allow you to change the host name without rooting.
Your best bet is to assign static Ip and then make noteof the names on a spreadsheet, and when you see a new device you know it doesn't belong.
some routers allow you to name the device in the static list my current one doesn't.
I still have no idea where it gets that name from, its neither Imei nor mac adress

Is in not the mac address of the wifi module itself?

Check to see if your router has a "fixed lease" "DHCP Reservation" or similar section, here you assign a host name and fixed IP address to a specific mac address.
