It's the wifi not device, spent an hour moving things around to get a proper signal and can now stream at over 10Mb/s.

If possible use LAN

My Tronsmart R68 Meta(2GB RAM, 16GB ROM) & Beelink R68 will arrive in a week or 2.
It would be nice to see how it compares to the RK3288 devices.
Because it's a faster CPU & Octa-core but is lower clocked at 1.5Ghz whereas RK3288 is 1.8Ghz but Quad-core.
It uses a PowerVR 6110 GPU which is faster but no Linux support at the moment.
But Imagination Technologies did say they are working on an Open Source GPU driver for Linux. So it can be promising if it doesn't take to many months to materialize.
It has internal wifi - Nagrace has removable external antenna.
Has 100mbps ethernet - Nagrace has 1gbit ethernet
RAM might be slower don't have any benchmarks. Heard Antutu score is also going to be around 38000, so similar performance to the Nagrace RK3288 units that have around 39000 scores.
What's nice about the RK**** chipsets is you can create your own firmware & kernels since there are lots of developments boards that release the SDK(source code). Whereas with other boxes you are stuck with the manufacturer's firmware that might not get updated frequently.


I will receive official LP5.1 for the Nagrace next week.
Also Android Kodi will be merged with SPMC(Optimised Kodi with tweaks for RK3188/3288/3688 devices) in a few days and will give these media players a big boost in video playback.
Also got Kodi 14.2 running on Xubuntu Linux on the Nagrace unit.
So far runs very well, 720p,1080p. It's just the 4K video playback that still needs to be worked on by using newer drivers and an updated Kodi Isengard, but there are people fixing it to release a final version.
Windows 10 Mobile is also on the way in August if they keep to schedule.

Nagrace is releasing a new RK3288 device with HDMI-IN Recording, Picture-in-Picture & signal protection bypass.
They are also releasing a RK3368 device but I haven't heard anything about it yet.
Will ask them for some details.

So I went and bought the 4G hph-v6b. What a cool device! Shipping was unbelievably quick, even after my area code was wrongly entered by me.

You should also download the Android app, through the settings menu, LeHome and try it.

The device plays blurays flawlessly over 100mbps LAN, no stuttering no buffering at all. Video & audio is in sync. 4K sample videos is a joy to watch. Although I only have a 1080p TV the graphics is astonishing. Will test the WiFi part tonight.
 
Any update on how the devices compare?

Trying to decide between the Tronsmart Orion R68 RK3368 and the Nagrace RK3288 NT-V6B 4G/32G

Would appreciate any input as bit confused due to big price diff between the two and which is better device. Or maybe neither is right choice and there is another better/newer device to go for.

Also if anyone can confirm what the import costs are. Thanks.

The tronsmart RK3368 has a x64 cpu and the nagrace RK3288 a x86. I read there have been quite a lot of bugs on the RK3368 device but it might have been resolved by now I think. You can get a good idea on the device if you read the Freaktab forum.

Performace I cannot comment on. I have the med800x 3d player and it is only good for playing 3D mvc files.

Tronsmart R68 based on 1.5 Ghz Octa-Core 64bit(but most Android apps only use Quad-Core, so not a big benefit) Also the Lollipop firmware is compiled 32-bit, so the 64-bit isn't taken advantage of.
PowerVR GPU - about half the performance of Mali T764 in RK3288 devices.
Boottime - 25-30 seconds about.
Can't dual-boot Linux firmware so far.
In Tronsmart forum people complain about slow wifi.

HPH NT-V6 - Based on 1.8 Ghz Quad-Core CPU. Can also overclock to 2.2Ghz if you modify the case or put a fan on.
Compared to Tronsmart R68, I can feel apps opening much faster and gaming is also better, after a year it will still be able to play the latest games whereas the Tronsmart won't be able to play the latest games after 6 months.
Boottime: 15 seconds
Can dual-boot Linux firmware with Linux Kodi.
External Wifi antenna, great speed.

The keyboard works very well as well as the airmouse part.
The arrow keys are IR, so you have to point it directly at the box and not more than 4 meters away which is not ideal.

T8 airmouse
Less keys on the front.
But arrow keys are RF, so you can point the airmouse upwards or away from the box and it still works.

I have paid around R350-00 import duties when I imported mine . Last year. Also delivered my DHL.
